CarePortal Connects Harrison County to Transform Lives
Harrison County, WV: CarePortal is a nationally deployed platform that empowers churches, agencies, and community members to work together to meet the needs of children and families in crisis. It is now launching across West Virginia through partnerships with local agencies and Chestnut Mountain Village, the state’s implementing partner.
See How CarePortal Works
Every year, more than 4 million children teeter on the brink of entering foster care, and more than 400,000 are already in care—most for preventable reasons.
CarePortal helps prevent these entries by creating real-time care connections between professionals who uncover needs and churches that can meet them.
“CarePortal uses technology to make real-time care connections for kids and families in crisis… It equips the local church to be at the point of care for these children and families.”

What is CarePortal?
CarePortal is Care Sharing technology that drives action for local children and families in crisis.
When a child-serving professional identifies a family in need, they enter that vetted request into CarePortal. Immediately, local churches receive an alert about the need, such as beds, clothing, groceries, rent assistance, or transportation. Churches then decide whether to respond directly or collaborate with others in their community.
This network allows churches to become the hands and feet of Jesus—meeting real needs, building authentic relationships, and preventing crises from escalating.
Common types of needs include:
- Clothing, transportation, and mentorship
- Beds, cribs, and mattresses
- Groceries, diapers, and hygiene items
- Rent and utility assistance
- Furniture and home safety items
