Be The Village Match Challenge
Every child deserves a safe, loving, and stable home. But foster families cannot do this work alone.
They need spiritual, emotional, and practical support from the people around them.

The Be The Village Match Challenge gives donors the opportunity to double the impact of their giving and make a meaningful difference for vulnerable children and families in West Virginia. The Village guides, equips, and connects churches so they can wrap around foster, adoptive, and kinship families with practical and emotional support such as meals, child care, transportation, and encouragement. Nearly sixty churches across seventeen counties are engaged, more than eighty-five leaders have been trained, and more than six hundred volunteers have supported many families. Over 100 families are being supported, have been supported, or have otherwise been engaged with Care Communities.
This work matters because support changes outcomes. Fifty percent of foster families stop fostering within one year when they feel alone. When surrounded by a supportive church community, 90 percent continue into a second year. One West Virginia family caring for a child with high needs felt overwhelmed and unsure they could continue. Their church provided a specialized stroller that made daily life possible again and allowed the child to be adopted rather than remain in a shelter. The family said, “It gave us hope. It reminded us we were not alone. It gave us the ability to live.”
Until now, The Village has carried out this work with few staff, limited resources, and a foundation of prayer. The need remains great, and now is the time to deepen the impact. For the next six months, every financial gift will be matched dollar for dollar, up to two hundred thousand dollars. This match will allow The Village to equip more churches, support more families, and expand collaborations like CarePortal, which has already served more than two hundred seventy children. Through the Match Challenge, donors help build communities where children are safe, families are strengthened, and the call to care is lived out in lasting ways.
